Addressing, Mapping & Other GIS Services

The Planning Office also assigns new physical addresses in Fergus County. During that process we check to see if new development needs septic services and or are located in the special flood hazard area. New physical addresses are distributed to collaborating agencies (including Central Montana Dispatch, local USPS, etc.) for use in their programs. In addition we can provide verification of assigned E911 physical addresses in Fergus County.

To obtain a new physical address please fill out the development permit and return it with the fee to the Planning Office. There is a 15 - 25 working day processing period (weather permitting) for development permits prior to construction & a 30 - 60 working day processing period (weather permitting) for after the fact permits.

The Planning Office also provides GIS services including mapping and updated GIS files. We can generate custom maps for a fee. Our office is also involved in road naming in the County and keeping an updated list of roads. Fergus County Planning assists the local Fire Districts and other Emergency Services with GIS services as requested.
